Why is my agreement showing as 'Locked' and what can I do?

The Locked status means the agreement has been finalized and all editing/signing capabilities have been disabled. This happens when:

  • All parties signed and the system locked it automatically — this is the expected flow after successful completion.
  • The owner manually locked the agreement — the owner can lock an agreement once all signatures are collected.
  • A system error during finalization — in rare cases, the agreement may be set to Locked but the certified PDF was not fully generated.

If you need to unlock:

  1. Only the agreement owner can unlock a locked agreement.
  2. Open the agreement in the editor.
  3. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar.
  4. The agreement will revert to Draft status.
  5. All existing signatures will be voided and must be collected again.
Important: Unlocking a locked agreement removes all signatures and evidence bundles. All parties will need to sign again. Only unlock if absolutely necessary.
Tip: If you see a "Locked" status but you cannot access the completion or download page, try unlocking and re-signing. If the issue persists, contact [email protected].
