BYOC

How do field placement and editing work in BYOC Overlay and BYOC Editor?

New fields should always appear where the user can find them, and selecting a field should take you to the controls used to edit it.

Original PDF overlay

  • On desktop, drag a field from the field palette and drop it on the PDF page.
  • If you click a field type instead of dragging, BYOC places it in the visible document area and selects it so it is ready to move or edit.
  • On mobile, use the field palette to add a field, then move and edit it from the document and field controls.
  • Clicking a placed field opens the field inspector and scrolls the workbench to the editing area.

Editable BYOC Editor

  • Click inside the document where the field should be inserted, then use Insert Field or Signature.
  • If no cursor position is active, BYOC adds the field at the end of the document, shows feedback, scrolls to it, and briefly highlights it.
  • Click an inserted field to open the sidebar controls for its label, value, type, required state, and assignee.
Important: Fields stay locked until at least one party exists. Add parties first, then place and assign fields.
